Irish Parliaments have the upper hand

1752011-british-royal-visits-to-ireland-3-752x501From TheFalseTimes, 29th August, 2016, London – Through a brutal and incredibly fast bill the Parliament of the Republic of Eire and the Parliament of Northern Ireland jointly voted for the combined separation of Northern Ireland from the UK and its entrance in the Republic of Eire to begin in January 1st, 2017. The move comes at a moment of decreasing support for Irish reunification, in what international observers defined as a desperate move for the weak Irish coalition to stay in power. Yet, the decision was not unexpected nor judges as undemocratic, as every poll shows full support for Northern Ireland to remain in the EU anyway.

Even if the British government did not validate the act, it is not clear how could it act and stop it, especially after Merkel’s endorsement of a federal Europe and Rajoy’s of a Basque independence referendum. The feeling is that the UK will slip not only into a mini-recession, but into a major setback of its economical position in the OECD, as the economy is forecast to contract 1.2% next year, according to the corrected forecast after the Brexit referendum.
